Christmas Preparation 18th Dec 2021

 We started with understanding how does team work actually works. We played a game and  reflected on working as a team.  We understood how to include each other, how to support the team members, is it about doing just my task or making sure the other person also can do it and much more.





It was Christmas time so we shared what does Christmas means to all. The words that we collected was joy, family, get together, gift, fun, santa clause, celebration, games, cold, lights, decoration, cakes, holidays and so on. I left it for them to have their own meaning of this festival. I did not want to give them any of my theories, thoughts or beliefs. 

We divided the group into two teams. Entertainment team and Decoration team. the celebration will be on 25th Dec. We had 2 hrs to plan and prepare. Both the teams had loads and loads of discussions, agreements and disagreements All the minds were working together to make the celebration fun filled.





 Entertainment team came up with the schedule for the celebration, they chose songs to play, they announced to the entire group that everyone have to come with 2 gifts. One gift will be for the friends in Discover me community and the other gift will be given to anyone around our house. It can be janitor, supporting aunties or uncles, vegetable vendor, neighbor anyone whom they want to show their gratitude or bring a smile on their face.

  

Decoration team went to the park and collected some dried leaves and sticks to make our own Christmas tree. They also brought some sand and stones in the pot to make their Christmas tree stand firm. After coming back they were stuck as the idea that they had did not work. They had planned to tie the leaves with help of a thread to the stick. So they planned to use cello tape instead. One child started making a star to decorate the tree. 











The preparation continued this week in Discover Me. Decoration and making gifts is keeping they quite busy and engaged.

Healthy Positivity Toxic positivity is a term used to describe an over-emphasis on optimism, where someone is consistently trying to put a positive spin on negative events or circumstances. Phrases such as “Don’t worry, everything will be okay” “Cheer up!” "Come on see the positive side" "Don't be weak, Stay strong" "Be Positive" "Its ok" "I am fine" "Everything happens for a reason" "Be a man" "What's wrong with you, you are upset for such a small thing" "Don't cry" are used to make the situation or the person feel better without truly recognizing the other person's emotions. Treasure hunt

Treasure hunt We divided the group into two. They created Treasure Hunt challenge for each other. As a team the plant the clues, placed them in a way that they can guide the other team to the Treasure. Treasure that if found was shared with both the groups. Creating and solving the clues as a team was quite challenging. When one of the team member was not well, she was included by giving her to read the clues, that way she could still be part of the game. After playing for 2 hrs they said "I was focused", I could think quickly", "I learnt to help my friends", "| realised that I can be quite and still be part of the group", "This was the first time I played with this big group"," there is so much to learn". As a facilitator it was quite fulfilling to see immense learning in just 2hrs.
